I’ve always wanted to visit Colonial Williamsburg in December. All the lovely holiday decorations around town look so festive and cheerful – a perfect antidote to winter blahs. Serendipitously, a group of us all had thoughts to visit this winter and we were able to spend a long weekend together relaxing, eating, and enjoying the sights.

In the Long Run Designs) and her husband Mike were also visiting for the weekend, and they organized a holiday photoshoot around the historic district, and graciously took portraits of anyone who asked. I wore my new
1790-92 jacket and petticoat and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how the photos came out. Gloria and Mike did a fantastic job and you can actually see how beautifully detailed this
Burnley & Trowbridge fabric is.
I made a new early 1790s tall hat to go with my jacket (more on that later), and a new large silk fichu. Because it was quite chilly, I wore my cream pelisse I made many years ago and carried a matching brown silk velvet muff. I also found a fantastic walking stick there in one of the historic shops, and it really completed the whole look.
Finally, I’m wearing pearl and hoop earrings from
Dames a la Mode, cosmetics from
LBCC Historical, black wool Dunmores from
American Duchess, and the fantastic wig I commissioned from
Jenny La Fleur last year.
